Caseworker Careers

Community Services (formerly DoCS) is the leading NSW Government agency responsible for community services.

We work to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people and to build stronger families and communities. In particular, we help those who are vulnerable and most in need.

We work to protect children and young people from risk of harm and to provide care for children and young people who are not able to live with their families through our three key program areas of prevention and early intervention, child protection, and out of home care.

Aboriginal Caseworkers

Community Services employs Aboriginal caseworkers to ensure that we provide culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal people. Aboriginal caseworkers work with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and their families. Aboriginal caseworkers may be involved in: gathering information; interviewing people; completing assessments; working with families; or working with the community.

Careers in Regional NSW

We have over 85 Community Services Centres all around NSW. Around two thirds of offices are located at regional centres in NSW...find a Community Services Centre near you.

Wide range of caseworker roles

Caseworkers have opportunities to move into a number of different areas, such as: child protection; street teams; Joint Investigation Response Teams (JIRT); multicultural caseworker; out-of-home care; and the Community Services Helpline.

Qualification for the job

Caseworkers need to have a degree-level qualification and relevant experience working with children, young people, and/or families... find out more about our preferred qualifications.

Applicants who identify and are recognised as Aboriginal do not require a degree as experience working with Aboriginal children, young people, families, and communities is highly valued by Community Services.
